NYCT No. 7 Line Subway Extension Project
Kieran Spillane, PE, Vice President at Parsons Brinckerhoff, will discuss the No. 7 Line Extension Project that will extend the existing subway line from its current terminus at Times Square in the heart of midtownManhattan to a new terminal station on the far west side near 34th Street and 11th Avenue in what has been branded as the Hudson Yards area. The extension will allow for convenient access to the ongoing and future development in the area, as well as the recently renovated Jacob Javits Convention Center. The No. 7 Line extension will introduce subway service to an emerging mixed-use community in Midtown West, fostering transit oriented development in one of Manhattan's most underserved and underdeveloped areas. New York City created two local development corporations, the Hudson Yards Infrastructure Corporation (HYIC), which is contributing $2.1 billion to the project, and the Hudson Yards Development Corporation (HYDC), which oversees planning and development in the Hudson Yards on behalf of the City. The project is being managed by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
This event will qualify for one PDH for Pennsylvania and New Jersey Professional Engineer continuing education requirements. PDH certificates will be distributed at the end of the presentation. A light lunch (sandwiches) will be served starting at 12:00 noon
