ECP ANNOUNCES VEOLIA ENERGY AS NEW CORPORATE MEMBER
The Club is pleased to announce that Veolia Energy has joined the Club as a new Sponsor-level Corporate Member. Veolia Energy is a leading global developer and operator of energy efficient plants operating in 35 countries with a staff of some 50,000 people worldwide. Veolia’s Philadelphia district energy network serves more than 300 customers in 500 buildings in the central business district from three steam production facilities and one chilled water facility. They hosted our sold-out tour of their Grays Ferry Cogeneration Plant in September. More Information

DELAWARE VALLEY ENGINEERS WEEK AWARDS CALLS FOR NOMINATION
The Engineers' Club of Philadelphia is soliciting nominations for various professional, collegiate and secondary school awards to be presented as part of Delaware Valley Engineers Week. Nominations for Young Engineer of the Year, Hall of Fame, and Outstanding Service Awards, as well as the collegiate awards, are due November 18. Nominations for the secondary school student and teacher awards are due December 9.  Information on affiliate society awards to be recognized is due January 15. All the award recipients will be recognized at the Awards Luncheon on February 14, 2014 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Philadelphia.  More information

DVEW ENGINEER OF THE YEAR ELECTION - November 12
The area engineering and technical societies have nominated three candidates for 2014 Delaware Valley Engineer of the Year: Ryan S. McDonough, PE, Suzette M. Schultz, and Robert B. Swayne, PE.  The election of the 2014 EOY will be November 12, at PECO Energy Company Main Office, 2301 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA, in Energy Hall (lower level).  All engineering and technical societies in the Delaware Valley are invited and encouraged to send delegates to this election.  Click here for details on the number of delegates per society (based on members), how to register your delegates, and information on each of the candidates.  More Information

MULTI-SOCIETY MEETING SAVE-THE-DATE – December 9
A task force involving 12 different engineering and technical societies has been planning this year’s Multi-Society Meeting.  It will be a dinner meeting on Monday, December 9 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia, at Broad and Loust Streets.  Based on a survey of the task force, the US Open at Merion was selected as the meeting topic.  Technical societies are invited to participate as meeting partners.  Sponsorships are still available to societies and companies.  Download a save the date and sponsorship flyer and plan on joining engineers from all disciplines and other professionals at this event.  Once again, we will be participating in the Marine Corps Toys for Tots collection. DISTRICT ENERGY AND LEED - October 22
On Tuesday, October 22, Veolia Energy Philadelphia, our new corporate member, will be hosting a seminar that will aid your understanding of the interaction between district steam and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines. This seminar will be held at the EEB Hub 4747 S. Broad Street Building 101, 3rd floor The Navy Yard Philadelphia, PA 19112.  This event will be worth 1.5 GBCI credits and is free of charge.  This will be especially helpful for those pursuing LEED or who work on steam related projects in the City. MEET US AT ELECTRIC EXPO - October 23-24
The Electrical Association of Philadelphia is hosting Electric Expo 2013, on Wednesday and Thursday, October 23-24 at the Valley Forge Casino Resort and Convention Center. There is free admission, seminars, exhibitors, prizes and giveaways, and free casino access. Exhibitors include electrical and lighting manufacturers serving the commercial, industrial, residential, institutional, healthcare, hospitality, government, transportation, retail and warehousing sectors. Some seminars will provide PDHs for those with PA and NJ PE registration; click here for more information. The Club will be exhibiting at Booth #222. DESIGN ON THE DELAWARE – October 29 – November 1
Every year Design on the Delaware, presented by AIA Philadelphia and collaborating partners, brings architects, landscape architects, planners, engineers, contractors, product and service providers together for professional education and networking, and a two-day trade show. The 11th Annual Design on the Delaware Conference will run four days. October 29th & 30th will feature 36 programs, 6 tours, 2 plenary sessions and trade show at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel. A full day of tours departing from the Center for Architecture, 1218 Arch Street, Philadelphia will be presented on October 31st and on November 1, the Community Design Collaborative will host a full day design charrette at the Center for Architecture. GREENBUILD 2013 – November 20-22
The Delaware Valley Green Build Council is hosing the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, the world’s largest dedicated to green building. DVGBC is using it to help build an international brand for our region built on sustainability and cultural vibrancy. They are convening partners in the economic development, tourism and entertainment, higher education, and sustainability fields to take full advantage of opportunities that will make our region more competitive. Leading up to the conference, DVGBC also wants to ensure that our whole community takes time to recognize over 15 years of individual and collective action that has made us a resilient, thriving region poised for even more success, so we've been putting on a series of Host City Events. They hope that you'll join them as they bring you some of the inspiration, education, and networking that characterize the Greenbuild conference. More information
