DVEW Award Calls for Nomination Issued

The Engineers' Club of Philadelphia is soliciting nominations for various professional, collegiate and secondary school awards to be presented as part of Delaware Valley Engineers Week. Calls for Nomination are available at www.dvewc.org. All the award recipients will be recognized at the Awards Luncheon on February 20, 2015 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Philadelphia.

Engineer of the Year
On behalf of the engineering and technical societies of the Delaware Valley, the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia is soliciting nominations for Delaware Valley Engineer of the Year. If you have an individual that you feel is worthy of such recognition, nominate him/her for the 2015 Delaware Valley Engineer of the Year. All candidates must be nominated by an engineering technical society. Societies may team up with other societies in preparing a nomination. All Delaware Valley engineering-related technical societies are invited to send delegates to the election. Nominations are due October 10.
 
Other Professional Awards
Professional awards other than EOY are due November 17.
  • Young Engineer of the Year (YEOY): The Young Engineer of the Year Award annually recognizes an outstanding engineer 35 years of age and under who has demonstrated leadership and made a recognized contribution to the engineering profession, as well as contribution and participation in charitable, civic, and technical affairs.
  • Engineering Hall of Fame (HOF): The Engineering Hall of Fame Award recognizes an individual, a team of individuals, an engineering project, or a company whose engineering achievements have had a long lasting impact on engineering and/or the public.
  • Outstanding Service Awards (OSA): Two Outstanding Service Awards are available; one for outstanding service to the Community and the other for outstanding service to Engineering.
Collegiate Awards
The collegiate award nominations are due November 17. These awards are funded by the Philadelphia Engineering Founcation
  • College Scholarships: Six different scholarships are available to engineering students in the Delaware Valley. NOTE: One of the scholarships is available exclusively for members of the Engineers' Club.
  • College Student Paper Awards: Monetary prizes will be awarded for technical and/or engineering related papers written by engineering undergraduates.
Secondary School Awards
The secondary school awards are due December 8. These awards are funded by the Philadelphia Engineering Foundation.
  • Outstanding High School Students: Scholarships will be awarded to two outstanding high school seniors in the region who are planning on enrolling as an engineering student the following fall.
  • Outstanding Math, Science, and Engineering Teachers: Three cash awards (one for math, one for science and, for the first time, one for engineering) will be presented for excellence in teaching in grades 6-12 in the region.
Affiliate Award Recognition
To celebrate all engineering disciplines, we will recognize those projects or individuals who have been honored by the various technical societies over the past year (since 2014 Engineers Week) as Project or Engineer / Member of the Year or similar designation as part of the Affiliate Awards Recognition Program. Information on these awards is due January 15, 2015.
