Identity, Privacy, and Tracking on Communication Networks

Cost: No Charge for members. Registration is required.

Speaker: Baw Chng

Abstract:

“Who are you?” “Can I prove who I am?” “Can I guess who you are?” “Can I verify you are who you say you are?” “Can I figure out what you are doing?” “Can I figure out where you are?” “Can I prevent you from figuring out who I am?” “Can I prevent you from figuring out what I have been up to?” …

On the global communication networks where we often conduct business without meeting face-to-face, these are questions often posed and faced by consumers, businesses, marketers, governments, institutions, and the general public alike, with intentions good and bad.

This talk goes over how the concepts of “identity,” “privacy,” “tracking,” and their attendant issues are treated in modern communication networks, including the wireless networks and the Internet. Time permitting, this talk may also venture into how these concepts and their handling may evolve in the communication networks of the future, in 6G and beyond.

PDH certificates are available and an evaluation form will be emailed to you after the meeting. PDH certificates are sent by IEEE USA 3-4 weeks after the meeting.
