ECP Events

The Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia is dedicated to relationship building and networking among technical professionals, communication and collaboration among engineers, raising the awareness of engineering in our society, and the professional development of its members.
The volunteers of the Engineers’ Club work diligently to develop events that bring people in the Philadelphia engineering community together. The club sponsors, organizes and also collaborates with affiliate organizations to put together a diverse and wide-ranging program of events.
• Provide opportunities for building relationships through networking and social events for engineers and related professionals.
• The unique role of the Engineers’ Club of Philadelphia as a historic, multi-disciplinary engineering organization promotes broad-based cooperation and collaboration among engineering related professionals.
• Providing connections between educational institutions and educators and engineers promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education.
• The club is a source of professional development information and programs for engineers and related professionals.

2022 ECP Annual Reception

The Club's Annual Reception was held in-person this year at Yards Brewery. It was a fun night full of networking that everyone has missed. The new Board of Directors was installed and inspiring remarks were made by, DVEW 2022 Engineer of the Year, Ann Michelini and, Bala Engineering CEO, Kimberly Burkert.

"Virtual" Affiliates Conference

The Club's Annual Affiliates Conference was held virtually this year to host the leadership of all Philadelphia Engineering related organizations and affiliates. Topics covers at this interactive meeting include programming for the coming year, fundraising initiatives, collaboration opportunities, and Engineers Week.

The NCEES Update on the FE/PE Exam

Multi-Topic Presentations

ECP virtually presented varying technical topics and provided the opportunity for PDH credit for attendees. The various presentations included Cast in Place Piping, FCC Kinetic Model, the Hydrogen Economy, and Automation & Data Collection Applied to Cell & Gene Therapy. All members could learn more about a particular topic or something new!

A talented panel of experts joined us to discuss both the big picture and the nitty gritty details. Philosophical and strategic considerations and looking at some of the systems and technologies being developed.

The ECP Annual Meeting is held at the beginning of summer each year. We induct our new incoming officers and thank those outgoing who have completed their terms. The evening consisted of a brief business update, an outlook from our President Chris Holliday for the next program year, networking and a cocktail reception for networking.

This year, author Jim Murphy presented a new look of the many accomplishments of William Penn. The discussion involved how William Penn turned a howling wilderness into America's fastest growing city that has leapt past New York and Boston. Attendees learned what Philly street name swept across the country, what landmark was the second most visited spot after Niagara Falls, and what some of our City's top exports are.

TomorrowLand is Here Today - Smart Cities, Big Data and Decision Science

The esteemed panel of experts brought together a view of smart cities from the technology, application and 'big user' perspectives along with data security and privacy considerations. In today's world, managing a large enterprise has become much more difficult due to the flood of new information and data and rapidly changing needs and circumstances. This is true for business enterprises, institutions and especially cities. The explosion in information and communication technologies (ICT) coupled with the increasing economic and environmental demands such as climate change, economic restructuring, the digital marketplace, urban population growth and pressures on public finances have generated interest in "smart cities" designed to use technology to try to get a better handle on the information driving the issues of the day. The smart city concept integrates ICT tools and systems along with the "Internet of Things" (IoT) to optimize the efficiency of city operations and services and connect to citizens. Smart city technology allows city officials to interact directly with both community and city infrastructure and to monitor what is happening in the city and how the city is evolving.

Our Annual Schuylkill River Boat Tour is held each Summer. This is a fun social networking event exploring the Secrets of the Schuylkill River and participants are eligible to receive one PDH credit.

This year we presented the George Washington Medal to John Grady, President of the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) who presented the attendees with an interesting overview of PIDC initiatives and provided some exciting insight into the City’s Amazon HQ2 Proposal. Congratulations to John!

ECP & PEF Delaware Valley Engineers Week

February 16 through 24

Congratulations to Alexa Egan Harper, PE and Deborah Grubbe, PE, CENG, on being named the 2018 Delaware Valley Young Engineer and Engineer of the Year, respectively. Engineers Week in the Delaware Valley was celebrated from February 16-24. This was our 66th year (!) celebrating locally. The kickoff luncheon, Young Engineers Social, and Awards Receptions/Student Showcase we a success. Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers, awardees, and participants for making this year another success!

ECP Philadelphia Flyers Engineering Behind the Game Night

October 17, 2017

An evening of professional development and networking at the Wells Fargo Center before the Flyers took on the Florida Panthers. Our group learned about the engineering behind maintaining the perfect ice temperature, the technology behind the AV systems, and more. Light appetizers, refreshments were provided. Attendees received 1 PDH credit.
