PhilaPort, also known as the Port of Philadelphia, stands as the fastest growing container port along the U.S. East Coast. This tour offers a comprehensive overview of its facilities, focusing on the container terminals where ships are loaded and unloaded. These operations highlight the port's pivotal role in both global trade and regional commerce. The tour, hosted by PhilaPort’s Community Relations Manager, will detail the port’s history and technologies used to manage logistics efficiently. If we are lucky, we may even see a ship!
This tour includes a 30-minute presentation followed by a 2-hour round trip bus tour that starts and ends at PhilaPort’s main office (3460 N Delaware Ave, Second Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19134). Free parking is available in front of the office, and additional parking is available along East Tioga Street. Attendees will have access to the office’s restrooms during the presentation; however, the tour bus does not have a restroom and it is not ADA accessible. Safety vests are required for anyone who chooses to exit the bus during the tour. Attendees must have a valid ID. The tour will be followed by a social hour with food/beverages courtesy of Philly YMF (Location TBD). This event has a 21 person maximum capacity.
