Friends of Wissahickon National Public Lands Service Day
National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 presents a great opportunity for people who love the Wissahickon to come out and support one of their favorite public lands. ASCE YMF will be attending to help Friends of Wissahickon (FOW) care for plantings in Houston Meadow!
Wissahickon Valley Park was set aside as a public land in 1868 for the health and benefit of the citizens of Philadelphia. It was intended to protect a source of drinking water for many, while also providing a place of recreation and respite. The Wissahickon is a public land that unifies citizens from multiple neighborhoods, including Chestnut Hill, Germantown, East Falls, Mt. Airy, and Roxborough.
No experience is needed. Gloves, tools and instruction will be provided! Be sure to wear sturdy footwear and long pants, and bring a water bottle with you. Detailed information and the specific meeting location will be sent by FOW the day before the event.
