Description:
Through a series of case studies, the presentation will describe techniques to assess damage in concrete structures, the development of strategies for strengthening to address the loss of capacity, techniques to improve durability, and review code requirements for the repair of existing structures. The case studies will introduce attendees to several newly published ACI documents related to existing structures. These documents address methods to examine sample size requirements for concrete evaluation, provide minimum requirements for capacity based on damage, and describe new strategies for reinforcement of existing structures.

Presenters:

Keith Kesner, PhD, PE, SE, Project Director

Keith is a Project Director with Simpson Gumpertz & Heger in Philadelphia, PA. He has over 25 years of professional experience evaluating existing structures. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and currently serves on several ACI Technical and Board Committees. He is a registered Professional Engineer in several states and a registered Structural Engineer in Hawaii and Illinois. He received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from Cornell University and his B.S. degree from the University of Connecticut.
