K-12 Outreach at STEM-AG Expo

Join us at STEM-AG Expo to share civil engineering with students! The STEM-AG Expo is a free event at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center designed to showcase the intersection of innovation and sustainability to over 500 students. This is a premier opportunity to promote civil engineering pathways and internships directly to a large K-12 audience.

Volunteers will present a hands-on shoreline protection demonstration showcasing the role civil engineers play in protecting communities from flooding and erosion.

Students will observe that, when applied strategically, the shape and placement of engineered infrastructure can reduce wave energy and mitigate coastal impacts, using simple models to illustrate real-world problem-solving. This demonstration highlights the use of STEM to address community challenges while introducing students to civil engineering careers and pathways.

Accessibility

The event space is ADA-accessible and reachable via Market-Frankford Line/regional rail line, transfer to Bus Route 99. The event space has gendered bathrooms.

If you are interested in an event but are not able to arrange transportation, please reach out and we can coordinate a carpool from Center City. No prior K-12 outreach experience is necessary to volunteer. All presentations and supplies are provided!
