The Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol, HTTP, is one of the most well-known and most widely used standards by consumers worldwide. Initially developed by Tim Berners-Lee in 1989 as a very simple protocol to transfer plain text documents heralding the World Wide Web, HTTP quickly became one of the most widely used protocols on the Internet to enable not only information sharing but also most consumer-facing front ends of e-commerce and control systems.
This presentation will traverse the evolution of HTTP starting from HTTP 0.9, discussing various issues sought to be addressed by subsequent versions of HTTP, culminating in the latest version HTTP/3. Transport efficiency, robustness, scalability, security, the use of HTTP as the basis for “Web API,” and other related technical issues shall be discussed along the way.
PDH certificates are available and an evaluation form will be emailed to you after the meeting. PDH certificate are sent by IEEE USA 3-4 weeks after the meeting.
